Types of Motor Vehicle Information
Records can include title issuance, registration status, lienholder, vehicle description, brands and transaction history. Names, addresses, driver-license data and other personal information are restricted by the federal Driver’s Privacy Protection Act and Florida law.
Accessing Your Own Record
Use MyDMV, GoRenew or Motor Vehicle Information Check with your VIN or title number. Protect login credentials and use an official domain. A third-party people-search subscription is unnecessary for ordinary owner tasks.
Permissible Uses
Law enforcement, government agencies, insurers, licensed investigators, towing entities, manufacturers for recalls and other parties may qualify for specified uses. Eligibility is purpose-specific and may require certification, account approval or written authorization.
Authorized Record Providers
FLHSMV publishes companies authorized for interactive access to certain driver and motor vehicle records. Authorization does not mean every customer can obtain every field. Providers must apply access controls and permissible-use rules.
Crashes, Hit-and-Run and Disputes
Give the plate, vehicle description, time, location and evidence to law enforcement, insurer or counsel. Do not post an accusation or buy an unverified owner address. Plates may be stolen, cloned, transferred or misread.

- Recurring subscription hidden in fine print
- No permissible-use certification
- Promise of unrestricted home address
- Generic people-search results unrelated to the vehicle
