How information is handled
Privacy Policy
We designed the website to provide useful information without requiring visitors to submit vehicle or identity data.
Effective date: July 23, 2026
Overview
Florida License Plates is an independent informational website. We do not operate a plate-owner database, government account system, registration processor or payment gateway.
Florida Plate Lookup Field
The plate field is validated in your browser. When you press the lookup button, the plate is normalized locally and may be copied to your clipboard. The website then displays official and independent research options. An external provider receives the plate only after you deliberately select its link. We do not operate that provider, control its databases or promise that a plate will match. We do not intentionally save plate entries in our own editorial database or use them to identify a person. The external provider receives the information you submit to it and applies its own terms, privacy policy, cookies, pricing and retention practices.
Information Collected Automatically
Like most websites, the hosting server may automatically record technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, requested URL, referring page, date/time, response code and security events. Logs are used for security, troubleshooting, capacity and aggregate performance analysis.
Information You Send
If you email us, we receive the email address, message and attachments you choose to send. Do not send plate numbers, VINs, driver-license numbers, dates of birth, title images, insurance records, bank/card data or another person’s private information. We use contact messages to respond, investigate corrections, protect the site and maintain editorial records.
Cookies and Local Storage
The core website does not require an account. Essential or preference cookies may be used for security and site settings. Advertising or analytics services may use cookies or similar technologies after they are enabled, subject to their policies and applicable consent requirements. Where required, a Google-certified consent management platform should be enabled before personalized advertising is shown.
Google Advertising
If Google AdSense is enabled, Google and its partners may use cookies to serve, measure and limit ads. Visitors can review Google’s advertising and privacy controls. Ads will be visually separate from editorial content. Advertising code is kept separate from the lookup control. Review the external lookup provider’s own privacy policy before submitting a plate or purchasing a report.
External Links
Official government, county, federal, toll and other external websites have their own privacy practices. We do not control what information an external service requests. Verify the domain before entering identifiers or payment details.
Data Retention
Server logs are retained only as long as reasonably needed for security, operations and legal obligations. Contact messages may be retained while a correction, dispute or security issue is active and for a reasonable recordkeeping period afterward.
Security
We use HTTPS, restricted server directories, security headers and data-minimization practices. No internet system is completely secure. Do not send sensitive documents by ordinary email.
Children
The website is intended for a general audience and is not designed to collect personal information from children under 13.
Privacy Rights
Depending on location and applicable law, visitors may have rights concerning personal information we hold. Email the address on the Contact page with a specific request. We may need to verify the requester without collecting excessive information.
Changes
We may update this policy when the site, advertising, analytics or law changes. The effective date will be revised.
