Which Records Need Attention
List every registered vehicle, trailer, vessel and mobile home connected to the old address. Also update the driver license/ID, insurer, lender, toll account and any local parking account. A single online action may not update all systems.
Online Address Change
Use the full official MyDMV Portal when eligible. The express renewal page specifically says address modifications are not allowed. Review every vehicle shown, the mailing address and whether a replacement registration or title copy is needed.
When an Office Visit Is Better
Use a motor vehicle service center for a name mismatch, returned mail, ownership change, business record, trust, lien complication, undocumented address, or repeated online rejection. Bring identity, proof of address and current vehicle documents.
Prevent Lost Plates and Decals
Change the address before ordering a replacement plate, decal, registration or paper title. Confirm whether the office will use residential, mailing or business address fields. Save the transaction receipt and expected delivery window.
Electronic and Paper Titles
An electronic title record can still have an address. Ordering a paper title without correcting the record first may send it to the wrong address. Lienholder-controlled titles can involve separate lender records.
Privacy and Fraud Safety
Do not email unredacted driver-license, title and insurance images to an address found in a search ad. Use the official portal or contact information independently verified on FLHSMV or a county site.
Requirements can change by transaction and record. Include the exact official error, form or procedure when reporting an update.
